What Are Cookies & Local Storage?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. Local storage is a similar technology that allows web apps to store data in your browser for faster access. SniffCast uses both to provide a seamless experience.
What We Use
Essential Cookies
These are required for SniffCast to function properly:
- Authentication cookies: Keep you signed in and maintain your session securely.
- Security tokens: Protect against cross-site request forgery and unauthorized access.
Local Storage
We use your browser's local storage to save:
- Your display preferences (temperature units, time format, theme)
- Walk window and meal time settings
- Your selected location for weather data
- Onboarding completion status
- Cached weather and activity data for offline access
What We Do NOT Use
- ❌ No third-party advertising cookies
- ❌ No analytics tracking cookies
- ❌ No social media tracking pixels
- ❌ No cross-site tracking of any kind
Managing Cookies
You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- View and delete individual cookies
- Block all cookies or third-party cookies
- Clear all cookies when you close the browser
Impact of Disabling Cookies
If you disable cookies or clear local storage:
- You will be signed out and need to log in again.
- Your display preferences will reset to defaults.
- Cached offline data will be cleared and must be reloaded.
- The app will still function, but you may need to reconfigure your settings.
