2. How We Use Your Information

Provide weather-optimized walking recommendations and walk scores
Track your dog's health records, medications, and vaccinations
Calculate personalized exercise goals and progress
Generate comfort-zone recommendations based on breed, size, and conditions
Send optional walk reminders, medication alerts, and weather notifications
Improve app functionality and user experience

We do NOT sell your personal information.

We may share limited data in these circumstances:

Weather services: We send your location (city or coordinates) to AccuWeather via a secure server-side proxy to retrieve weather forecasts and air-quality data. No personal or dog data is included in these requests.
Payment processing: SniffCast is currently free for all users, and we do not process any payments. If we introduce paid features in the future, this policy will be updated to describe how payment data is handled.
Household members: If you create or join a household, other household members can see shared dog profiles, activities, and health records.
Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by law, court order, or governmental request.

We do not share your dog's health data, medication records, or vaccination information with any other third parties.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely in our cloud database with encryption in transit and at rest.
Some preferences are stored locally in your browser's storage for faster access.
We use row-level security policies to ensure you can only access your own data.
Authentication tokens are handled securely and expire automatically.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access your data — view all information we store about you
Correct inaccurate data — edit your profile, dog profiles, and records at any time
Delete your account and all associated data
Export your data in a portable format (JSON)
Opt out of optional notifications and location services

6. Cookies & Local Storage

Essential cookies: Used for authentication and maintaining your session.
Local storage: Used to save your preferences (units, theme, walk windows) for a faster experience.
No advertising cookies: We do not use any third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data as long as your account is active.
When you delete your account, all associated data (profile, dog profiles, health records, activity logs) is permanently and immediately deleted.
Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for service improvement.

8. Children's Privacy

SniffCast is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us immediately at support@sniffcast.dog and we will promptly delete it.

9. California Residents

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

Right to know: You may request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected.
Right to delete: You may request deletion of your personal information.
Do Not Sell: We do not sell your personal information to any third party.
